At Unity Manual Osteopathy, every appointment begins with an assessment and conversation about what you're experiencing, your health history and how your body is moving. From there, Zarko selects the hands-on techniques that are most appropriate for you.

A treatment may focus on one specific concern or involve several areas of the body. The approach is always tailored to what he finds during the assessment.

What Does a Treatment Involve?

Manual osteopathy uses gentle, hands-on techniques to work with the body's joints, muscles, connective tissues and other structures.

Depending on your needs, treatment may include:

Joint & Structural Techniques

Gentle techniques are used to assess and improve the movement of joints and surrounding structures.

Zarko uses techniques such as Lensen™ to work with areas of restricted movement. These techniques do not involve sudden thrusts or forceful cracking.

Soft Tissue & Fascial Techniques

Soft tissue techniques work with muscles, connective tissue and fascial structures throughout the body.Because the body is interconnected, the area where you feel pain isn't always the only area that needs attention.

Craniosacral Techniques

Craniosacral techniques are gentle hands-on approaches involving the head, spine and sacrum.

These techniques may be incorporated into a treatment when they are appropriate to the individual's assessment and needs.

Visceral Techniques

Visceral techniques involve gentle hands-on work with the connective tissues surrounding the body's organs. Where appropriate, these techniques may form part of a broader whole-body treatment.

You don't need to know which technique you need before you book. That's Zarko's job. Your assessment helps determine the most appropriate approach for your individual situation.

Appointment Options

First Appointment — 60 minutes | $155 + GST

For your first visit, a 60-minute appointment is recommended. This allows enough time for a thorough assessment, conversation about your health history and concerns, and hands-on treatment.

Follow-Up — 15 minutes | $55 + GST

A short appointment for a specific, previously assessed concern or a quick follow-up treatment.

Follow-Up — 30 minutes | $80 + GST

A good option when one or two known areas need attention or a shorter follow-up treatment is appropriate.

Follow-Up — 60 minutes | $155 + GST

Recommended for more complex concerns, multiple areas of the body, or when a more comprehensive assessment and treatment is appropriate.

We recommend starting with 60 minutes. This gives Zarko enough time to understand your concerns, complete a thorough assessment and provide treatment.

If you've seen Zarko before:
The appropriate appointment length depends on what you're experiencing and what was identified during your previous treatment.

Benefits & Payment

In Alberta, manual osteopathy is typically eligible for reimbursement through extended health benefits, depending on your individual plan and provider.

Unity does not offer direct billing at this time. After your appointment, you'll receive a receipt with the information you need to submit your claim to your insurance provider.
