Conditions Zarko works with

An old injury, repetitive movement, changes in posture, or the way your body has adapted over time can influence how you move and where you experience discomfort.

At Unity Manual Osteopathy, Zarko takes a whole-body approach to assessment and treatment. Rather than focusing only on the area that hurts, he looks at how different parts of the body are moving and working together.

With more than 15 years of hands-on experience, Zarko has worked with people experiencing a wide range of pain, injuries and movement-related concerns.

Pain doesn't always tell you where the problem begins...

Back & Neck Pain

Back and neck pain can develop for many reasons, including injury, repetitive movement, prolonged sitting, postural strain or changes in the way the body moves.

Manual osteopathy looks beyond the painful area to consider how the spine, joints, muscles, connective tissues and surrounding areas are functioning together.

Zarko commonly works with people experiencing:

  • Lower back pain

  • Upper and mid-back pain

  • Neck pain and stiffness

  • Recurring back or neck pain

  • Pain associated with postural strain

  • Sciatic-type pain

  • Whiplash-related discomfort

Shoulder, Arm & Joint Pain

Pain or restricted movement in one joint can affect how the rest of the body moves. Sometimes the area that hurts is compensating for a restriction elsewhere.

Zarko works with a range of joint and soft-tissue concerns, including:

  • Shoulder pain and restricted movement

  • Tennis elbow and repetitive strain

  • Hip pain and stiffness

  • Knee pain and stiffness

  • Joint mobility restrictions

  • Muscle tension and discomfort

Sports & Repetitive Strain Injuries

Whether an injury happened during a game, a workout, at work or through repeated daily movements, the body often adapts to protect an injured area.

These adaptations can sometimes contribute to ongoing discomfort or restricted movement.

Manual osteopathy may be appropriate as part of your recovery from:

  • Sports injuries

  • Repetitive strain injuries

  • Overuse injuries

  • Muscle strains

  • Sprains

Injuries that continue to affect movement after the initial healing period

Treatment is tailored to your current condition and stage of recovery.

Headaches & Tension

Headaches can have many different causes. For some people, tension in the neck, shoulders or upper back may be one contributing factor.

A manual osteopathy assessment can look at the relationship between the head, neck, spine, shoulders and the rest of the body to identify areas of restriction or tension that may be influencing how you move and feel.

Zarko commonly works with people experiencing:

  • Tension headaches

  • Head and neck tension

  • Neck-related discomfort

  • Muscle tension associated with posture or repetitive activity

If your headaches are new, severe, changing or unexplained, it is important to speak with your physician or other appropriate healthcare professional.

Postural & Movement-Related Concerns

The way we sit, stand, work, exercise and move can influence how our bodies adapt over time.

Zarko assesses movement patterns and areas of restriction that may contribute to discomfort, stiffness or reduced mobility.

This may be relevant for people experiencing:

  • Postural strain

  • Stiffness from prolonged sitting or desk work

  • Restricted mobility

  • Movement-related discomfort

  • Muscle tension associated with repetitive activities

  • Scoliosis and associated movement concerns

Every Body is Different

These are some of the concerns Zarko commonly works with, but they are not an exhaustive list.

Your symptoms don't have to fit neatly into a category for manual osteopathy to be worth exploring.

A thorough assessment considers your health history, current symptoms, previous injuries, movement and the way different parts of your body work together.

Not sure whether manual osteopathy is right for you?

That's okay. Start with a conversation about what you're experiencing.
